This is good for overweight dogs due to the overall lean recipe – which contains roughly only 9% fat as opposed to the typical 15% found in adult maintenance recipes – and the particular benefits of the various ingredients. Brown rice, peas, cranberries, and carrots all are high in fiber, which helps your dog feel fuller, while the real turkey helps maintain lean muscle mass. The real venison helps further by keeping your dog feeling full and satisfied, while helping maintain healthy energy levels.

Remember to check your dog’s weight regularly. Slow, steady weight loss is ideal (losing between 1-2% of their body weight per week). If your dog does not lose weight or loses more than 12% of body weight within 4 weeks, talk to your veterinarian about the amount of food you’re feeding. Once the target weight is achieved, switch to Maintenance feeding.

As with any weight management program, this formula works best when used with exercise. We recommend working with your veterinarian to develop a healthy exercise that’s right for you and your dog.
