The Scoop on Loose Poop

Diarrhea in dogs and cats is not uncommon and often resolves itself. If diarrhea persists, try a bland diet—like boiled rice and cooked chicken—for 12-24 hours and provide extra water to make sure your pet doesn't become dehydrated. But if you see other signs, like vomiting or lethargy, or the diarrhea lasts more than 48 hours, looks black or bloody, collect a sample and take it and your pet to the vet immediately.
